Recognized FHIR Experts

There are some very real experts in the FHIR space.

Here I single out 5 of those experts — each with their own areas of specialization and focus. If you’re not reading them regularly I encourage you to do so.

  1. Brendan Keeler
Brendan’s articles have a strong US focus, where he writes on patient access, regulations, TEFCA and EHR integrations. He can also be counted on for detailed analysis of current news stories in the space, such as the Epic V Particle saga from earlier in the year.

  2. John Moehrke
John’s specialty is privacy and security in FHIR. He’s written many detailed articles covering topics in this space from security labelling to consent management. You’ll also find him answering questions on the FHIR chat forum.

  3. Sidharth Ramesh
The outlier in the group, Sidharth favors videos over text. While you’ll find a lot of tutorials on his YouTube channel, I feel the greatest value he provides is in his in-depth interviews with key players across the FHIR and EHR communities.

  4. Mohammad Jafari
Not as prolific as John, Mohammad touches on similar topics and has written some great pieces on data segmentation as well as consent and identity management in FHIR.

  5. David Hay
David doesn’t write as much as he used to but in the past he’s written about Smart-on-FHIR, slicing in profiles, and OpenId and FHIR. Well worth a visit.
