It’s great to see new startups building solutions using FHIR.
Metriport is a US company that connects to all 3 major HIE networks and helps share patient data via their API.
They came out of Y Combinator a couple of years ago and have open sourced many of their key components.
One of which is a C-CDA to FHIR converter.
My default position on healthcare data convertors is that they never work as well as expected, but I’m open to being proved wrong. A fresh set of eyes on the problem can often lead to genuine improvements.
And they have a patient matching algorithm that I’ll be digging into later.
I was exploring patient matching and merging only this week, so look forward to seeing what they’ve produced.
We need more startups working with FHIR. New sets of eyes not encumbered by old processes and ways of doing things.
