Comparing FHIR server performance

The team at Health Samurai have kicked off something worth watching.

A comparison project to measure the performance of FHIR and terminology servers.

We need better ways to compare the performance of FHIR servers. Documented processes and data sets that can be used to run server-to-server comparisons.

Ideally this would be an independent project, with server providers offering up their servers for testing. But volunteer projects of this scale and complexity rarely get off the ground. They’re just too much work.

Here’s the post about the FHIR server comparison project: https://www.health-samurai.io/articles/performance-at-scale

And the terminology server project: https://www.health-samurai.io/articles/fhir-tx-benchmark

I’m keen to see how this turns out. Hopefully there’ll be some common datasets shared so that anyone can run the same tests themselves.
