The “Analytics on FHIR” online conference kicks off in 10 days.
It couldn’t come at a better time for me, as I’m working on a project right now that needs to expose FHIR data to heavy queries.

FHIR is not designed with analytical queries in mind. But businesses and organizations have requirements to run just these sorts of queries to extract aggregated data and metrics.
SQL on FHIR is one answer to this, but there are others.
The Analytics Conference is a day-long event on Wednesday October 30th, featuring 9 speakers talking about a number of different topics in the space.
I’m looking forward to hearing from Carl Anderson from the Mayo Clinic, who’ll be talking about translating FHIR to OMOP.
And Grahame Grieve will be walking everyone through “Using SQL on FHIR in the HL7 FHIR IG Publisher.” I’m always interested in what Grahame has to say.
A number of other speakers will talk about different implementations and use cases for SQL on FHIR.
Here’s the full list of speakers and topics.
I’m told that recordings will be available after the event, so I encourage everyone to sign up even if you can’t make it on the day.
It’s free. There are great speakers. And it’s an important FHIR topic.
While your project might not have a use for big queries right now, chances are it will in the future.
